Replacing rear coil springs...

Hi,

Have been given a Stealer quote of £500+ to replace both rear springs, which sounds extortionate. Standard S4 spec car.

Could anyone please advise on what I should be paying, and also what would be the pro's and con's of upgrading to a specialist setup such as H&R.

Cheers

you should not be paying any more than 80 quid. easily done in 1 hour.

If you can afford it i would go for the upgrade. I've had H&R coilovers and arb's for a couple years now, wish i'd of done it sooner. You dont realise how crap the standard set up is until you change.

I changed my rear suspension in just under an hour and it was my first time on a s4. That's a piss take.

Just a side question: do springs need replacing after a period of time or just when they break? i.e. RS6, 6 years old. DRC just replaced but not springs. Just wondered whether there is some time span/mileage when springs should be changed rather than waiting for them to break?
