RS4 intercoolers

Post by bertm » Mon Aug 24, 2009 4:16 pm

Just bought an S4 and looking to buy some better intercoolers

Are rs4 ones any good?

Don't like the rice look with pipes hanging out of the front like you get with front mounted intercoolers

Why would you want to get RS4 intercooler when your S4 intercoolers is good enough for 350 BHP you can't get higher then 350 BHP with your KO3 but if you want to go full RS4 space then its good to get the RS4 intercooler :)

rs4 dimension are the way forward or wagner intercoolers, both not cheap but miles better looking than front mount kits they spoil the look of the car i totally agree, with the warm weather at the moment i've noticed the difference in power during a good drive especially when you stop at lights or something letting the heat build up a bit and thats with 320bhp never mind 350....have a look through your grill in the bumper and see how much of the s4 intercoolers you can see, its very very little especially with the fog lights which are useless blocking all the air flow so even with k03's its still got to be a lot better for the engine for both power and more efficient running

You can fit an FMIC fairly discreetly if you paint the lower hoses black. A few people have done so and the car remains looking stock.

i've seen a picture of someone that'd done that i think a dark blue s4 on here is it? and your right it doesnt shout out max power..you have to know what your looking at to notice it but i think they had to cut a hole on one of the grills to accomadate a pipe but its certainly a cheaper option. have you seen the very long skinny ones 800x60mm? not sure how the surface area of cm2 compares to rs4 items tho

I have RS4 intercoolers on my K04 S4. If I was to upgrade them (no plans currently) I would probably go FMIC.
Alternatively water/meth injection. Cheaper and more effective.
Facelift S4 with K04 + complete RS4 top end.
