I've been doing a lot of thinking recently about how to make my car go faster (haven't we all!) and more importantly, how to make it handle better and I've come to the fairly obvious conclusion of weight saving. What I'm thinking is carbon fibre; wings and bonnet to be precise. I know you can buy bonnets already for a reasonable price but I am struggling to find wings. I did find some RS4 wings in the states a while back, but I cant find them again, and concidering I dont have a widebody, and actually quite like the stealthy standard look I am looking into having some wings made.
My best friend works for a company that specialises in very high quality pre-preg carbon parts and could make these wings for me; question is, would anyone else be interested. I have no idea of pricing, but it stands to reason that the more people that commit to buying, the cheaper the price gets!
Let me know your thoughts.
Cheers, Matt.
Less weight=more power
RE: Less weight=more power
i've thought exactly the same hence me carrying no spare wheel and junk i can get them imported from the us through a friend but would prefer them made here in the uk for quality issue's and keeping our lads in work if i decided to get them but i changed a front wing a few months ago and they weigh next to nothing anyway so you wouldnt notice any change. you can save a few kg on the bonnet but i found the thing that weighs the most is the front bumper it weighs a ton in comparison to the wings and is miles in front of the wheels assisting oversteer so if you can lighten that and remove the air con system and carbon bonnet you'll be as light as you can be at the front without drastic alterations
RE: Less weight=more power
That'll be nice.
