Hi guys, finally need to replace my rims they are 18x8.5 with 225/40/18 tyres, we had to put a spacer in when we fitted them as they were going to catch on the calipers, which are the AMD porsche upgrades they were doing a few years back when I first bought the car. This was not ideal as my slightly lowered car then rubbed on the wheel liners, whereas the original wheels 18x8" with the same size tyres (and no spacers didn't)

I desperately want to get back to 18x8 and junk the spacers and stop the rubbing on the liners, and have been waiting for the tyres to wear out, anyway today I got a really bad puncture and now have to replace the tyres so I though would be a good time to finally sort the above problem out.

Now, without taking a wheel off to check the offset, what offset 18x8" will I need to clear the porsche calipers without having to use spacers ?

Any help would be appreciated.

ET35 should work OK - but will depand on spoke design. It would seem some of the RS4 Replica wheels, whilst looking the same, and with the same offset do not all clear the standard calipers. I have your brake set-up and RS4 reps (ET35) and all is good. The 17" standard avus wheels will clear your calipers but I don't know their offset (ET45?).

Cheers for replying Dazzer, took the flat off today and replaced the tyre (as it was shredded) temporarily with a part worn type from a local fitter whilst I assess what to do with regards to new alloys and tyres.

The wheels I have on right now are ET35 18"x8.5 with 235/40/18 tyres on, when we fitted the wheels caught the porsche calipers so we put in a spacer, the tyres at the front when hitting a pothole do sometimes rub on the liners though, which I would like to get away from.

The original wheels when I bought the car I think were ET45 18"x8.0 with 225/40/18 on (might have been ET43 but 99% sure ET45) and it's also worth mentioning that both sets of wheels were rs4 replicas both from AMD, in fact the second set were a replacement for the first set which were wrecked when the brake lines failed from the brake upgrade which was not done properly and the previous owner went into a gravel trap on a trackday - and the company sent the ET35's as replacements, to be fair to AMD they also replaced/repaired everything that was damaged, but how I wish they sent the same wheels down!

I guess it would be good to know what others are putting o before I either take a punt on getting some off the internet, the only other choice I have is over priced rims and tyres in Jersey or take my car to the UK and turn up at a shop and try them on for size like shoes !

If anyone else has some thoughts then I would appreciate them.
