KO4 Upgrade

Post by SLC Detailing » Thu Feb 26, 2009 9:10 pm

Im looking at possibly getting my old S4 back. If i do then the turbos will need replacing soon so the obvious route is the KO4 route. My question is can you just bolt the KO4 turbos onto an s4 and remap it? Do u need anymore parts? If i were to buy it back i would not be able to afford to go the whole 400hp plus job, but would just be looking at upgrading the turbos. Also how much are the KO4's brand new each? Thanks

you will need the rs4 charge pipes minimum but while the engine is out why not do some other little bits too. Ie wait till you have a little more money before you go for it . Start collecting bits first . I just seen some go with intercoolers for around £2k how bmuch do you want to spend on the whole thing?

I've looked into this before, as a few K03'd S4s have come up which I've been interested in taking down the K04 route.

But the general consensus is that it would be £5000+ (inc RS4 clutch) so for me unless you can get the S4 cheap, it's nudging RS4 money and probably not worth it. Better to wait and buy a well sorted K04 S4 thats already been done, as they seem to sell for about £8000 give or take.

I paid 6k for my ko4 s4 last month, the previous owner had spanked 5.5k at mrc in july upgrading (ko4's, rs4 clutch etc) so i guess bargains are around if you wait and keep looking. :D

Was that the noggy estate with the damaged bonnet & silver recaros?

This is what I mean though. Its just not worth buying an unmodified car then doing the K04 upgrades yourself as you'll be spending £11k+
