S4 Wiper Motor Noise...

Hi, my 1999 S4 has sat around for years doing very little mileage. I have a feeling that water has ingressed into the front wiper motor as it is making an awfully loud mechanical noise. Anyone have any tips on wiper motors? Can you take them apart and lube or grease them to make them quiet? Or is it just a case of replacing with a new or second hand unit. If it needs replacing, anyone got one? Or can anyone recommend a decent second hand parts supplier? Thanks, matt

S4's can have their wiper mech's sieze up. I took mine out the other day and stripped it down, re-greased, and reinstalled. The actual motors are not cheap at around £100. I would take the mechanism out and give it a regrease - easy to do. I had to move the ecu housing to get it out but its pretty straight forward, there is tech article on audiworld.

Thanks 2nd gear. Did the re-grease cure your problem? Was it noise related?

Didnt have a noise issue, just noticed that the wipers were getting slower over time!

As a plus, the motors are the same as all A4's so you should be able to pick one up from ebay or a breakers yard cheaply enough if it IS the motor thats fubar.

I'd be checking the linkage first though, myself.
