Done a search and cannot find a definitive answer to the above.

Do RS4 (B5) brakes fit on a std S4? Eg under wheels, direct onto arm etc etc?

After having the front brakes on fire, I feel I need to upgrade but without spending 1000's of pounds!

What are the common upgrades?
Is there a sticky on here as I have looked thro 67 pages on the search and not appeared to have found the answers.

There are no mechanical differences between pre and post facelift cars with regards to the front suspension legs/brakes.

The RS4 calipers will bolt streight on, although you may need the flexi hoses to go with them.

Another option might be B6 S4 brakes, they're 345mm over the RS4's 360, but the disks are available much cheaper (ie £86+vat for a pair of disks) as you dont have to buy them direct from audi, so should be a bit cheaper overall for the full setup.

any chance you can fit the b6 discs on 17's?

Yes the B6 brakes will fit under the standard S4 wheels etc. Had them on my car but upgrading now to brembo 4pots and 380mm discs. PM me if your interested in them.

RS4 B5 brakes will fit onto the S4, BUT you will need to have 18 in wheels

anything is possible.
B7 RS4 8pot fronts and B5 RS4 rears with Goodridge motorsport braided hose on a B5 1.8t.
pedal feel is awesome, no sponginess at all, stopping power is great even as I am still getting the break in coating off the pads







wheel/tyres are a little close to the arches, no rubbing but they are coming out a little

Want to keep the std look so don't want to change the wheels.

offset is your biggest issue, the RS4 calipers need a good amount of clearance and normally run on ET20 wheels,
I tried 10mm and 15mm on standard B5 ET43 wheels and they were too close. it depends on wheel style as there is masses of room inside.
they bolt straight on but you need to address the hose length, TBH anyone not going up to braided when doing brakes is wasting money IMO.
The B7 RS4 upgrades are listed in details on the RS4 B5 page (pricey though) these are the guys you will source cheap B5 RS4 parts from.
I got a full set of B5 front and rears with very good front discs and brand new rear ones for £300 (inc all hoses). Sold the front for £250 to a chap in Spain. shop around, there are some bargains out there!
There are some VW Phaeton/Toureg 360mm disc options to keep costs down, these all fit the B5 RS4 front calipers
not sure what the S4 runs with regards to disc size but I would say RS4 is the way forward for anyone looking for a cheap uprade.

I am now running ET24 B7 option wheels (19mm inside stock) which then creates arch issues, which I thought I had dealt with but the guy who rolled and pulled my arches didn't take into account of tyres. it has KWV3 coilovers so is pretty solid and rubbing isn't an issues but it looks a little on the chunky side
it goes back in next week to sort it.

Hoses are not a problem as I can make them up to suit any application.

The RS4 parts will not fit under 17" rims.

If you want to keep your 17" S4 rims the biggest you can goto is the 345mm B6S4 parts
