What is a safe boost level for k03s?
my s4 is running 1.3 bar think thats about 18psi. (confirmed by doug at mrc during a health check)!
The car is standard apart for the DTS chip i found a receipt for after i bought the car.
Anyone heard of a DTS chip and software? receipt was for about £900
what is max boost on a mrc remap?

Mods
Full RS4 Exhaust with gutted pre-cats and no middle box.
BMC Panel Air Filter
RS4 Intercoolers
MRC Custom Remap
Running 350+ bhp and over 400lb-ft

It does depend on where in the rev range that boost happens - 1.3 bar at 7000 revs will kill K03s pretty quick!
Turbo manufacturers provide a compressor map which provides this sort of information. I don't know the full details though.
However for the S4 you'll generally find that the 'responsible' peak boost is indeed around 1.3 bar.
GIAC in the US were know to provide 1.5 maps and there were unsubstantiated reports of turbo failure as a result of that.
My car has been running about 1.35 bar peak for about 50,000 miles and is still going strong.

That's good to know, I have similar setup minus the intercoolers and getting 315bhp. Though I have only just had the RS4 exhaust on the last couple of weeks with no pre-cats. May get the intercoolers done and another remap for that sort of gain.

I've got Miltek 3" and full de-cat, Air induction kit & Standard cooler's, AMD map + a few other little bit's and i'm running around the same figures as Adam. RS4 cooler's are better yes but not really needed while your on K03's, IMO.

is that a rolling road figure or are you using your airflow to work it out?

This is what Doug told me last time i was at MRC. He fitted a new map sensor for me and then plugged his lappy in and we went for a drive on his test road

. So i'm not sure how he measured it to be honest, maybe maf reading???

does anyone know the average safe boost on k03 turbos is then across the rev range and top end in 6th without reducing their lifespan severly??

Never had my car at the top end in 6th and probably never likely to. However I can say that my AMD remap which gives me an absolute peak boost of 1.35 bar (although typically 1.2 to 1.3 bar) was done at about 20,000 miles, my car has now done over 80,000 miles and no signs of problems whatsoever.

thats good to know, mine was remapped at 65k a few months back and i run a few different boost levels but 17.4 psi/1.2 bar is the max, some people have said this is too much for the ko3 at high revs and as i can stop my turbos from tapering off i would be interested in peak boost held right up to the redline in any gear really as the air flow should be the same shouldnt it,i cant say i wanted to look at my boost figures when at 6k in 6th gear as my guage is stashed away

£900 for a chip/remap
