Throttle issues, running problems

Hi guys

i have just purchased an S4. i got a bit off the purchase price due to it having fault codes logged for the throttle body.

I had hoped it might just need a calibration done but that doesnt seem to be the case.

I've got the following 4 fault codes from the car:

4 Faults Found:
17967 - Throttle Valve Control part (J338): Fault in basic settings
P1559 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17579 - Angle Sensor 2 for Throttle Actuator (G188) Implausible Signal
P1171 - 35-00 - -
18008 - Power Supply Terminal 15: Voltage too Low
P1600 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17953 - Throttle Valve Controller: Malfunction
P1545 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

the angle sensor 2 fault appears quite often, along with power supply terminal 15, however the other two only appeared after it took an "odd turn" last night. i was driving along and lost all power, foot to the floor with the clutch in it would only rev to around 2500rpm. The fault fixed itself after i cycled the ignition.

Other than sometimes idling high, the car seems otherwise fine.

Any ideas?

Have you done a basic setting on it?

Does seem to indicate needing a new TB

done an adaption yesterday when running off the fault codes see how we go.

ive found reconditioned TBs for sale on BBA Reman, 130quid exchange.
does anyone have any experiance of recon'd throttles?

If you can source a second hand other Bosch TB, from say another vag car the internals of the control side should be the same,
so you could try moving them over, the rest of the TB is just a flap with a gear on it, so it might cure the wiper fault.

Many share the same control side with just a smaller diameter entry.

You could go the BBA route or alternatively speak to Euro Car Parts, as they may have a OEM VDO unit at a much reasonable price than Audi.

Sounds like the interface/ power plug is loose or dirty. I would remove and clean all plugs from the Throttle Body. It may be wise to clean out the TB as well as it will have a bit of crude inside.
