hesitation at 3k after 710's and N75 replacement

Post by dubwhizz » Mon Sep 01, 2008 2:25 pm

ok, ive replaced the 710s and the N75 valves and the hesitation that was there and went has come back. get it in pretty much all gears, but it feels stronger in third (or do i just boot it more in third?) and i think the car os pretty much down on power cos of it, as it feels quick, but not amazing.

any thoughts as to what to look for before i go and shock myself with VAGCOM tonight?

oh and anyone know where the horn is on the B5? Mine seems strangely silent.

The horns are by the passenger intercooler. You can test the output in Vagcom (make them 'honk') I think.

Have you done a pressure test?

thanks chap. how do you get to them? from underneath im guessing?

no tools with which to do a pressure test. are head gaskets a likelihood at 119k miles?

You should be able to get to your horns by removing the inner wheel arch with your wheel at full lock.

There are 2 horns on the B5 (low tone and high tone), and one of them does usually stop working.

One ain't working on mine aswell at the moment

you can get these from any audi dealer or cheaper at www.vagparts.com if you are prepared to wait a week or so.

The differences between them are:

1. S4 has air box clips. RS4 is screwed into air box.
2. RS4 is generally longer than s4.
3. RS4 reads higher than S4 (s4 reads upto around 300 and RS4 reads to something stupidly high (4??).
4. RS4 does not have metal wire air straightener inside

Don't think you can just plug in an rs4 maf and it will work properly either. Although it will, it won't work as well without a proper re-map.
Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves!?!

Standard S4, but not for long.
