I've just got myself some B5 RS4 front calipers, discs and pads...The pads are as new and the discs are in good condition. 8)

Can you get drilled/grooved discs for this set up? Would it be advisable to change the brake hoses, or will the ones that come with it, do? Is it ok to use the same standard brake fluid? Will i see a small/medium/big difference in braking once fitted? How long should it take to fit both sides? I think thats it for now....

Thanks.

There are drilled discs availible from audi but they are silly money. No after market ones. Use Brake lines that come with the calipers. Same with the fluid, just use what you are using already. Big difference will be noticed :)

Nice one for the reply, i'm looking forward to getting them fitted......Do you know how much it is for new discs? You say silly money for the drilled discs, what kinda price for them? :)

well standard discs are £400 or more from audi but you can get them for around £350 on ebay. The drilled ones from audi will be even more - but as yet there the only firm that i could find to make aftermarket discs were DBA.

I have B5 RS4 fronts on my S4 and yeah the discs are hellishly expensive. I had mine fitted by StarPerformance (in Scotland) and it didn't cost a lot. I didn't look into getting the GBMH drilled ones though.

I did think that the conventional wisdom was to go for new discs at the same time though?

As for stopping, well it's hard to quantify but yes you will notice a difference. They feel much more "serious" (for want of a better term).

There is a video floating around from Topgear/5th gear (can't remember which one) showing a B5 S4 and RS4 braking performance superimposed on each other which is interesting.

Well i phoned Vag-Parts for a quote on discs and pads: £193+vat for each disc and £135+vat for a set of pads....I gotta admit i was a bit shocked at how cheap they were  ....I asked them about the drilled ones and was told you can only get them from GMBH Germany and would be very expensive.......

I thought i'd try the Stealer's for a quote,ha what a joke this was....The guy said £215+vat for each disc standard 360mm ok, then i asked for a price for the drilled ones....wait for it.....the guy said £1787.77+vat each disc....pmsl at this point....i said you joking right? no, thats what it says here, so i asked if i get caliper's with that....he said no just the disc...

Well just goes to show that the stealers really dont know sh*t about anything, apart from extorting money from your wallet

Did the guy have the decency to at least sound embarrassed at the price of the drilled discs? ;)

That sounds like a good price for pads, i'll remember that when i need some. The ones i'm getting with the discs have only done 1k miles so should last a bit yet.....I think when i have better stopping power i'll start driving like a c*nt too

Ok as it was pointed out the only B5 RS4 disc we can get is OEM so I spoke to Adam from Audizine regarding making up disc to fit the B5 RS4 and he said yes at a delivered price of $650 way cheaper than stock.

Here's the thread over on Audizine you can have them anyway you like.

Thanks Doc.

With the current exchange rate that works out to be about £330 delivered plus customs charges. VAGparts come in at £408 delivered so £330 is quite a saving if you can avoid the dreaded customs/VAT charge! :)

I was talking with the guy who sells the discs and i asked him to quote me for just the fronts discs, grooved and dimpled. He came back with a price of $500 delivered  . Well as you can imagine i was buzzin with the figures....Then 10 minutes later i got another e-mail saying "apparently the quote was incorrect, my guys are killing me, i misquoted" :( Obviously too good to be true.....I'm just waiting for the proper quote from him now...
