DIS replacement

Seen a S$ I'm interested in, T reg, 125K miles, cloth interior but very clean and runs well, <£6K and that includes a cam belt replacement. My only query is the DIS display is faulty, missing lines of display, although seems to work. How much will it cost to replace and is it a DIY job?

Tyres are on their last legs as well, otherwise seems OK.

The DIS failure is very common. There is a DIY job which people have had mixed results with, which is essentially wedging a piece of card in place to push a ribbon cable down onto it's contacts better.

BBA-Reman offer a service, around £250 IIRC.

The other alternative is to buy a replacement unit and fit it yourself, but you have to be a soldering surgeon to pull that off!
