Pulled along side a nissan 350ZX at some lights he gunned his engine so i thought why not. completeley fooked it up revved to about 4k misjudged the lights almost went too early. result was when i did go managed to launch with foot still partially on clutch result engine span up to 7000 no bite, foot then completely off the clutch still no bite going no where fast came of the gas completely waited a second back on gas, clutch bit and away.
Obviously stinking smell in the car will this have done any permanent damage other than removing some friction material prematurely.?
Other than damage to ego that is!

S4 clutches work on a ratchet system and once they have settled they usually return back to normal(just with a few thou of lining missing.)

I've done that too jimbo. The smell makes it seem terminal but I have not had any problems since in a year or more.
I still think that getting the clutch out & the wheels spinning in one go is easier on the car than slipping it.

depending on your level of tune i suppose but i think 3k rpm is a good launch start for trancing peaple but only once in a while if you love your motor. that 4 wheel drive system hooks up with the tarmac all to quickly sometimes.
