BHP Jump?

Post by Turbo Joe » Wed Apr 09, 2008 3:35 pm

Is the jump from 326bhp to 400bhp as noticable as it is from 265 to 326bhp?

So from 1.3 bar, what kind of bar boost would you be running at 400bhp and what torque figures are you looking at?

Well on my thing I'm running a peak boost of 26/27psi (~1.9bar) - figure it's around 430bhp/500lbf.ft peak power and torque.

so going from 265 to 450ish would be quite a bit then......

so tell me about the fuel consumtion thing--if its custom mapped it will run quite dosile on light throttle but on WOT it will drink like gazza
is this about right???

Is that on standard K04s or hybrids?

Yes, most definitely!

Granny-style driving will see you ok on the fuel front - lead-foot driving will see you visiting a petrol station more regularly than a crack-whore visits her dealer/pimp.

from 265 to 450 would be like chalk and cheese. It'll be a bit intimidating for a few days. Basically it's sub 20 mpg. Sorry if that sounds harsh but it's the truth, it'll drink fuel big time. It's just that the acceleration becomes the norm... My 500 bhp seems slow now, and I want another 150....

So what would determine how much torque you could bring out of the motor?

the standard rods wouldnt cope well with huge torque, just go for 800bhp cheaper in the long run

It just felt overwhelming for a few days that's all. At first I didn't want to hit full throttle in 1st gear, I thought I might fall through a gap in the space time continuum or something. It all happens very fast..... And it totally overwhelms the grip available...

A few days later and it was fine, my heart rate remained stable as I started the car.
