Stalling and won't restart.... immobilizer maybe

This happened twice friday morning and 5 or 6 times friday evening. you are driving and all power goes and you look at revs and they are on zero.
Pull over to side of road and try and restart, it spins over fine but will not fire. I tried locking and unlocking with key out of ignition but this did nothing Go into Vagcom which is in the car from FATS run and plug in and open Imobilizer
it says this
Address 25: Immobilizer Labels: None
Part No: Bitte Adress
Component: e 17 eingeben
No Faults Found
or DTCs not supported by controller
or a communication error occurred
then without clearing codes or anything it turns over and fires straight away and runs fine for a while then same happens all over again.
Eventually it starts and stays running for 10 miles home. I am pretty sure immobilizer light is on while turning over and not firing.
The last 10 mile run was after the car was stopped and locked and unlocked again, would this maybe be resetting something.
Does the imobilizer stop it running or just stop it starting?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried switching on/off the cruise control to see if it makes any difference ..?

Cruise control not wired in yet, could that do this?

The immob definately won't cause the car to cut out if it's already running. The only time an immob will stop the car is about 1-2 seconds after starting. I suspect you have a problem with a power supply relay.. this should be a quick job for a decent electrician.

could also be fuel pump or relay

I read that the Golfs suffer from a relay that powers ECU and a couple of times I tried to VAGCOM it it said it couldn't connect which also seems the same as the ECU relay on the Golf. Is this the same as the power supply relay and where is it and the ECU relay if different.

I have seen the non ross-tech cables messing around a bit with vag-com, what are you using.

Genuine Ross-tech cable, it didn't seem to be that kind of communication problem
ECU fault maybe

this is happening again and when the lights are on I can't VAGCOM its engine module.
I did get the following log, there is another below when ABS and ESP lights were on and it stopped me looking at engine, the brakes have a fault then.
The car was not started or driven between the 2 logs the only difference is that the first was when it would have run fine and the second are when it was in a state that it wouldn't start or run

Do you have soldered chip? The connection might be sometimes bad.

An update on this at last. Its been a few months but yesterday I gotthe ECU back from ABT and it was as they said corrupted. They are billing me a small amount to just cover p&p and uploading the map they already had saved. I will update you on the figure when it arrives.
By coincidence my local VAG dealer welded the exhaust bracket a few days before this all started so I had a chat with them but they seem to think they weld everyday so it is unlikely, i am unsure as in a rush sometimes thinsg get forgotten
