Who's fitted RS4 B5 rear brakes to an S4.
1. Are the calipers the same as the S4 units?
2. Can you use the standard S4 handle brake cable?

answers:
1) Depends... there are 3 types of r/calipers on s4... 1x solid discs & 2x vented -(was some ferral rogue set-up just after the solids were faded out, most have later vented .. i believe..?)
The solid calipers are no good so bin em, later vented may be okay.. maybe earlier too ..?
2) Yes you can use the original h/brake cables ....
drift back the hard plastic cable locators on the lower rear wishbones -pull the extra inch of cable back to the rear of car,
connect up to the situated rear calipers,
the plate that is held on the back of the calipers with a t30 fastener that locates the h/brake cable, this can be moved around slightly to accomodate the missing 10mm on the cable ....
it will all come clear when doing it ... but make sure you release the slack first as the cables go through the lower rear wishbones

Thank you. Am going to change them this weekend coming. will let you know.
My car is a 1998 car. But had already upgraded the rears to the vented units. Now I have a complete set of RS4 units. Calipers, Brackets, Hoses, Discs and backing discs.

Sorry for slight off topic, but I have worn solids and wonder how to upgrade to newer vented. Is this just a matter of buying new disks and pads? Are newer calipers the same?

no need for apologies - already answered ... read the posts...

.... but .....
It must be uncomfortable to have worn solids ... perhaps more spice is needed ... that will sort out the venting issue at same time ...

I've got em on the back, sorted braking right out, used to get the back tring to overtake me with rs6 fronts and solid prefacelift rears.
Bleeding order, not sure, I usually have to suffer the misses getting up/down commands wrong, getting in a mood and waiting for a pal to come over. I but I guess your not taking about that order.
