Replacement control arm kits

Post by Stigter » Sun Jan 27, 2008 9:11 pm

Can anyone recommend a supplier for replacement of all the control arms on the front of my s4.

Car is a complete nightmare to drive - Tram lining / rattles. Have to be totally awake to drive - Its all running stock components which have covered 100k+ miles so all a bit worn. I see no point in replacing only bits effected only to have to take it all apart and realign again so a complete kit would be ideal.

I know oem stuff is available from Vagparts but also been told to try melye kits.

Any advice much appreciated

Would these be suitable for the S4 though?

I presume they are S4/6 items that you can put on your A4/6 as an upgrade? You could email them to check? You would have to contact them concerning shipping costs anyway

Email sent to seller, cheers mikeyquattro - so will see.

I have been told there are differences between a4 and s4 - something with the shape of the upper arms and Track Rod Ends anyone know?

Id also try Euro car parts.

Someone from there has purchased a complete kit at around 300 quid if my memory serves right. Its not original but apparantly comes from the same factory but rebranded.

Worth a try

Well got a reply from the ebay store deutschepartsusa who stated the following after providing the VIN# :

********************************************************************************************************
These Kits are OEM made by Hamburg Technic from Germany.
The Cost of the Kit(With FULL Hardware & Metal Tie Rod Ends)is $479.99 + $110.00 Shipping= $589.00

We also have another Kit with FULL ALL METAL TIE ROD Assembly's & Full Hardware for $545.00 + $110.00 Shipping = $655.00
********************************************************************************************************

Tried to get some information about Hamburg Technic - they seem to not be made in Germany but people suggest that the parts are very poor.

I think it will be a case of Meyle or Febi. The OEM parts from S4woody seem like a good buy but Meyle and Febi do Heavy duty versions which eliminate some of the weaknesses with the stock parts (saying that though the stock stuff has lasted 100K)

I think its just gonna come down to price -

Be careful. Most of the ebay kits are A4 kits and sold as S4 kits. They will work but the upper control arms are different on the S4.
This has been discussed a few times on AW. Apparently, the Meyle HD kits are a POS. You are better off paying a bit more and
getting the OEM Lemfoerder (spelling?) units. I have just bought track rod ends from VAST. Cost me ~80 quid but they are solid
steel. Pure Motorsport do a full Lemfoerder kit for about $600. Factor in shipping, duty and VAT though and Woody's price might be
better.
