Coliovers?

Just wondering how much firmer a coilover suspension (H&R Hopefully) would change the comfort of my 2000 s4, 98,000 and counting. Hope to lower it by about 20mm and fit 18" wheels.
Cover around 350 miles a week and i don't want to turn it into a race car, i use it every day.

The H&R coilovers are quite a bit softer than I thought they'd be so probably what you are looking for? I stiffened mine up with ARBs and they're now perfect (for me!).

The H&R coilovers really aren't that outrageous.

That's good to know as i carry the family quiet a bit even though my wife has a newer car.
What other manufacturer might suit?

Eibach make good coilovers for the B5 S4: 20-70mm ride height adjustment, good dampers (non-adjust), stainless steel, and at a good price (~£650 a set) - work well for me.

Thanks S4TAN that sounds good to me as once there on and set at the right height i won't be adjusting them.

You can still adjust the ride height once they're on noccy (that is of course if you want to) - it's the dampers that are fixed (they are KW dampers 'tuned' to match the Eibach springs) - KW are very good. The front coilovers are double spring too.
TBH if you only want to lower it 20mm see if you can get some used RS4 shocks/springs - IIRC these are lower than the stock S4 set-up - or some used Quattro Gmbh RS4 shocks/springs ... probably a fair bit cheaper than a new set of coily's.
But if you want to buy new kit then I can definitely recommend the Eibach's for performance and comfort - combine them with H&R thick-set ARB's, MRC's "custom" rear ARB stiffener, and some RS2 rear drop-links and you're well sorted!

I'd actually like to drive that setup, and see how it feels.

Next time you're at MRC let me know, and if I'm about then you can take it for a spin Rik.

Thanks. Hopefully, that won't be too far into the future...

That set up sounds the business. How much would it cost? If i went over to RS246 Live from Ireland i could maybe get it done and make a long weekend of it!

Eibach c/o's ~£650, H&R ARBs ~£300, MRC rear ARB mod ~£28, RS2 rear droplinks ~£110 (or can get copies for less - rolskii got some, don't know how much for though) - then there's the labour to get it all fitted and adjusted - maybe ~6/7hrs? Don't quote me on that though, give Doug a call at MRC, he'll give you an estimate.

I'll put it to my wife this evening about RS246, she's expecting our second child in 10 days time so if she's up for it i'll take the family.
I'll give MRC a call, is it far from Brungtingthorpe?
