Recaro Pole Position

Post by Doug_S2 » Tue Aug 28, 2007 12:19 pm

What can I say - awesome seats. All a straight fit apart from one plastic runner slipping off - need to fix that somehow.

You can play mid corner without having to hold on!

Recaro state they do not do a fiting kit for the S4 anymore but they do!

Also fitted a golf R32 steering wheel - Since mihnea had one on his car I had to get one - really chunky steering wheel.

has to be a vw airbag - and that is the biggest downer - but the car mine came off had a porker badge stuck/welded over that - so now I have to get that painted black! the r32 badge at the bottom could be swapped for an rs badge - not tried yet though.

You can get over the vw or th eporker badge jsut for the differenet feel it gives when driving.

Was it the recaro part numbers you were after?

85.94.17
85.94.27 baseframes
720700 sidemounts.
070.77.0S09 for the blue alcantara(copy) black leather seats - which are a good enough match to the blue interior.

No, steering wheel part numbers, though if it's the VW airbag used that makes thing easier. Is it just plug and play?

You can lift a pole position with one finger no problem - stock seats are just stupid heavy. I did not weigh them but I will soon.

The seats are not too tight but hold you in nice - they passed the Ash test.

autospeed for the gaitor

 yes, I guess 10-12kg each with brackets compared to 50 each for OEM seats :(

Like the alacantara too, full leather would be much slippier I expect.

I have used these seats in 3 other cars for the last 6 years or so....if you fit then they are perfect for long distances, those of a slightly wider build can have problems with base and particularly the curve round the shoulder area. I find they work best with a 6 pont harness, locked in tight...you are not going anywhere and get much better feel and control of the car.
2000 B5 S4 facelift, sadly missed...enjoying the 2005 A2 TDi Special Edition though!
