Annoying noise

On full lock on the steering (in either direction), there is an annoying squeeky noise coming from the front of the car - it stops when the steering starts to return to centre - any ideas??
btw - it's a 1998 S4 Avant

sounds like the power steering pump to me..check your fluid level and the condition of the belt..

they all squeal on the full lock position
