just got back from looking at her, wondered if anyone knew anything about the car. it only appears to need minor work. ie, antiroll bar drop links, upper rear suspension arm and corroded exhaust were adviseries on it serviced in jan, and a rear wheel bearing was an advisery on last weeks mot.
what do you guys think?
cheers tom

Look ok to me? About right for the money.

Looks nice, I like the dark mettalic colours.

Doesn't look as though it actually has the recaro interior, even though it says so in the description. It would have been a retro fit if it is the recaro interior as the car is a pre-facelift.

Guess you are looking at approx £200 in parts plus an exhaust to get the car right. Good excuse to go for a Milltek system though!

Difficult to be sure but I agree with John - doesn't look like Recaro. This is key because Recaro was an expensive option/aftermarket fit and definitely has an impact on price. Did you notice "Recaro" embossed on the seats? Have you seen the standard "sports" seats to know the difference?

The only other option I can see is cruise control. Other than that it looks like a base model.

I didn't notice about the seats to be honest. but they were very comfy. but i'm sure they are different to recaro seats i've seen in pictures. being a pre face lift (what are the major differnces?) will have the early manifold issues?
thanks for the help

Have you read our stickies, especially "B5 S4: What every owner should know"?

Looks like a good example to me and it has standard leather seats.

thanks for all the help guys, the non recaro isn't putting me off. but the smaller oil feeds are a bit of a problem i understand, can these be changed? also i take it it will have problem manifolds, if these start rattling can anything detach itself and go through the turbo?
Cheers Tom

car looks good in my limited knowledge. Good price too i would say.

On a side note.. and just out of curiosity, is it me or is the S4 badge on the boot on the wrong side? i have a pre-facelift saloon, very similar age to this as far as i can see yet my badge is on the passenger side...??

what smaller oil feeds?

all s4/rs4s can get rattly manifolds - the earlier they are the more common though.

I followed what looked like a 1.8 A4 to work this morning and the S4 badge on the back was on the drivers side.... it must be right!
