the brake light warning light comes on periodically but no bulbs are blown. when i pulled over and looked at the brake lights they were lit up like the brake pedal had gammed !! I drove off and the warning light went out. this happens almost every time i hit the braked now - any ideas what could wrong? i checked for loose or dead bulbs but everything was fine.

Possibly a dodgy switch on the brake pedal

Check with vag-com. I think your ABS module might need remanufacturing ie. at bba-reman. About £150

It should have been a recall but it isn't. Stupid Audi.

Driving to work this morning and i saw in the reflection of the car in front that when i brake the front left sidelight comes on - this must be why the tail light failure sign comes on in the dash. How are the front lights connected to brake lights ?? i thought it was a dodgy brake pedal switch but now thinking a short circuit somewhere . -
any ideas how to go about finding the fault???

Haha, I knew the electrics in my Audi were bad, that takes the piss.

Same kind of thing started on mine yesterday, when I switch the lights on the high level brake light stays on all the time and the warning light comes on whenever I brake

Yeah that would make sense as it only started scince I replaced a tail light bulb, althought the first one I put in lasted about 10 min for some reason.

It was a dodgy brake switch, apparently a common fault with Audi and Vw.
Cost me 75 quid to put right, 11 pounds for the part itself - from now on ill do the work myself.

im looking to get the freeware version of vagcom and an inte4face cable - are the ones on ebay any good?
