Only if its a facelift I think. You need an electronics expert like Mihnea at MRC to set it up as well.

AFAIK - it's gotta be facelifted models due to them and the RS4 using the CAN-BUS protocol for communication (Radio to DIS for example) also the immobiliser is part of the same cluster as the guages and will need to be coded / paired with the ECU, then all the keys will need recoding to the Immobiliser.

But yep MRC are your best bet for info - you might be able to code the keys yourself if you still have the security code on the plastic key (needs to be the 4 digit kind - not the newer 7 digit) - Audi won't and can't give these codes out anymore, in fact they don't even get to see the codes anymore as the new system hides the code from view even to the main dealers.

I'm not sure about coding the immobiliser to the ECU - not alot of info out there for that - Audiworld doesn't have any info due I reckon to the fact that the US spec S4's don't have an immobiliser IIRC.

although smack either one about and the police turn up ;-)

(i really don't know coz all the RS4's are facelift)

I discussed this with my Audi dealer recently. The issue really comes down to a matter of "clocking" which I guess is illegal. I might need my cluster replaced, and the dealer told me that I will need to show him my V5 to prove that I own the car before they can do the job.

Late 99 the facelifts came out. Quite a few subtle changes.
