Hi to all.

I know there is a massive amount of information on the forum about brake types / kits etc, but can anyone can answer the following please.

Whats the best caliper to use on a Facelift B5 S4, running standard 17" rims with standard discs ?

My apologies in advance for trawling this one up again, but every time I do a search, I end up with a whole mismatch of info.

If anyone knows the answer, are there any part numbers available.

Regards,

rsdreamer

I think APRacing do a calliper/ disc set up that can be used with 17s. Pretty sure that's what Jimbogrey uses...

Yes he does. Hi-spec also and the Porsche setup as DaveT and GrahamS4 run

Note the disks are changed also rsdreamer. Although possible using custom caliper brackets, using upgraded calipers on stock disks not a popular upgrade.

Ah yes. I missed that. I don't know of any off the shelf kits for larger callipers on standard disc's

The setup Jimbo is running is also expensive disc's

I've gone for stock calipers with EBC turbo grooved disc's which feel fine so far, If you change to Hi-Spec calipers you will need to change the disc's as well as that was the only thing that stopped me from going for a hi-spec steup was down to the cost at the time

IIRC the Porsche setup is 993 Turbo with 332 mil discs?

The 993tt ones are 322 x 32 I think.

Increasing pad are is one thing that will help with fade resistance, but the main thing is getting thicker discs that can get the heat away. Thats why upgrade kits are a set of: discs, callipers & pads.

HiSpec do a 335x32 set-up for 17" rims which is what I have run for the last 4.5 years. I'm going to change my discs to 360x32 now that I have 18" rims.
