help me choose a car!

Still looking for my S4, and have pretty much narrowed it down to these 3 cars from the Audi approved network:

Image
1999 'V', 36K miles, Brilliant Black, black leather with recaros, multi-CD, Bose, sunroof - £19,995

Image
1999 'V', 41K miles, Ming blue, silver leather with recaros, multi-CD - £20,995

Image
2000 'V', 30K miles, silver, black leather, multi-CD - £21,995

Silver is my favourite colour, but I'm not sure it's worth paying 2K more than the black one. The black car is really well spec'd, but I'm not sure about the colour.
I'm struggling to come to a decision Image - which would you choose and why?

cheers,
Andy

I like the black one best, I love black cars they look fantastic when clean but do get dirty quick! (so are no good for me as I am not too good at keeping cars clean!) and it also has the best spec and is the cheapest, and the mileage is virtually the same on all.

Use the 2k you save to start the tuning process!

Hi Mate,

Easy choice for me, I'd go for the ming blue.

It really is a wonderful colour, especially in the sunlight, sometimes it looks black, other times blue, and sometimes ever purple.

I had a brilliant black A4 2.8Q before and I liked that, but I feel the black is a little plain compared to ming blue.

Personally I don't like silver, and for me I feel the cars look more 'stealth' in darker colours as the grills under the front bumper don't stand out as much.

Hope this helps.
-Dan

No question....get the Black one. It's got Bose/Recaros/Sunroof & it's 2K cheaper....

For 2K ish you can re-map, short shift & HiSpec front brakes...

Or you can try and get the Ming Blue cars price down for cash.....

I can't believe you've found 2 cars with Recaros When I was looking I couldn't find any and ended up paying 1K for a new drivers side Recaro in cloth......

If you don't like the Recaros I'll do you a swap

Black in my opinion (but then I am biased as my S3 is Ebony black)

Plus I dont like silver leather (gets dirty)

Recaros are about the only extras my car doesn't have
In fact I'm quite pissed that the S3, S6, RS4 and RS6 come with them as standard and the S4 did not.

If you are happy with any of them, go for the black one and save the money (or spend it on mods).

Hi Andy,

If you are andy_w from scoobynet i asked a few questions about your scoob for sale. They are fantastic cars and yours looked the part....only prob for me is insurance. Absolute damn nightmare insuring in northern ireland. Cheapest quote was £1700. However insuring an S4 is £1050...happy days. That is the road i am going down now.

Have you ever checked out ebay for used cars? try the link below, you may be surprised. The mileage may be a fraction more thn you want, but hell it is still a very good price.

Good luck.
Steve

Hi Steve,

Yes, I am andy_w from ScoobyNet

I've sold my scoob now, and I'm after an S4. I'm hoping it will give me similar performance, but a bit more quality and anonymity

I saw the one on eBay and have emailed the owner for more details, but after further consideration, I'd rather go down the approved Audi route for a bit of peace of mind.

Re. the S4 on eBay, it really depends what his reserve price is. I don't think the Buy-it-now price of 18K is great, but it might go for 15-16K if his reserve is that low. I often check eBay for cars, and I get the impression that it's not really a great place to sell cars - I prefer ScoobyNet

cheers,
Andy

Recarros and......... cheaper. Cash for mods. You've got to get it chipped the best 1K you'll every spend!

Have you tried driving all three? How do the garage rate with web sites. These Audi dealships can drive you distraction. get the history on the car call the last owner.

Believe me if you are of medium build then you will long for a narrow seat. I am that man!

Unfortunately if you want a sport seat with airbags then you got to get the Recarros, and they are over 1K each!

Black looks really really nice. Ming blue looks good too. Sorry Silver people. It seems like every other car on the road these days is silver - not that there is anything wrong with that. Hell I can't say anything my S4 Avant is Imola yellow with blue Alcantera! Definitely not my first choice but it was too much of a bargain and very low miles to pass up. I've grown to like it...not very stealthy though.

But I really want and RS.........

Golich,

That's the other complication. I am in Scotland (near Glasgow) and the 3 cars are in Grimsby, Southampton, and Norwich. So, there is no chance of me test driving any of them. I will probably have to buy based on the info from the website.

So far, Grimbsy Audi, who are selling the Silver one, have been very helpful and I have negotiated over £1K of the listed price, but Southampton and Norwich haven't even returned my calls

I have more or less decided to go with the black one from Norwich (Robinsons Audi) if I can get them down to around 19K

cheers,
Andy

Andy, if you need a home for the day or two down south, let me know, and you could try most of them out.

Paul, thanks for the offer - that's very generous
Unfortunately, my wife recently had our second child so I don't think she'd be too happy if I disappeared for a couple of days to test drive cars!

Just off the phone to Robinsons Audi in Norwich. They are not willing to budge on the price of the black S4 I was hoping they'd go to 19K for a cash buyer. Now only around £750 between the black one and the silver one, which is newer and less miles, but doesn't have recaros & bose

cheers,
Andy

Can you get anything off the Ming Blue car ??

The Reca ros are worth having
