AMD map
AMD map
Does anyone have an AMD stage 1 on their S4?...thoughts?
I appreciate an MRC custom is very very good and was very impressed when Doug & Minneah checked over my car, certainly a consideration and may end up going down that route......just for now my question is bout the AMD map.
I understand the news owners have the licence to the old chips/maps so nothing should be any different than before....cheers.

2000 B5 S4 facelift, sadly missed...enjoying the 2005 A2 TDi Special Edition though!
I just dont like AMD after all the problems I know friends have had with them in the recent few years. Hopefully the new owners will be able to give AMD a good name again.
Also I think MRC maps are cheaper. Ive had no complaints with mine at all. Ive driven a car with an AMD map and I can say its not very smmoth at all. The torque is not where id like it to be. Seems very quick to come on boost and then mid range is a lot weaker than my MRC map. I only drove the car for around 10 mins up and down a major A road. I wanted to get back into my car straight away.
I did have gutted precats and Miltek at the time. And this car was with a single Miltek 3 inch and AMD map only. My gutted prectats may have made a difference. Still I felt the custom mapwas more useable.

I agree with Saf on the price, AMD was very expensive. If i had known about MRC when i had mine done i would have gone with them. As i was new to my car back then AMD was the the only one that people seemed to go on about....
I would like to try an MRC map, but it will have to wait until it's turbo time. I cannot justify getting rid of the £800 AMD map, yes thats right £800
......for the custom MRC map and have same power as i have now, it doesn't make sense!!! Or does it,

Hmmm, its fast but is it fast enough!!!
Do a FATS run and I'll tell you if it makes sense.s4-99 wrote:

I think it's all been said. I'm very happy with my AmD remap and have had no problems. However when you consider eveything (including the recent change of ownership of AmD), I would most definitely advise MRC instead. When the time comes I will be going to MRC for my stage III.

You'll only know by trying!!I would like to try an MRC map, but it will have to wait until it's turbo time. I cannot justify getting rid of the £800 AMD map, yes thats right £800 ......for the custom MRC map and have same power as i have now, it doesn't make sense!!! Or does it,
I paid £750 for a Revo remap, had that removed and £800 for a West Tuning remap, and then had that removed and paid £500 for an MRC remap. The MRC map is definately the smoothest and IMO the best of the ones I've had done - It feels so much quicker through the first four gears than the others did.

I had the AMD map a few years back with a miltek cat back, I was very impressed, 328bhp and 412ib/ft(on they're rr), but not exactly smooth. Most of AMD's brains moved to AutoPS along with Ed, they have mapped my car now with all the rs4 bits on they did an excellent job, very car friendly map. I want something ass out for hte summer so have booked in with MRC next week for a tweek b4 I fit an rs4 engine next year. I have lined up Autops to put the engine in and MRC to get the electronics bang on when the rs4 lump goes in. It's well handy them being down the road from each other and AMD for that matter must be a hot spot for Audi specialists similar to Ipswich and Masey Ferguson
