Smoothest chip - searched btw :)

Hi there,
I know ANY chip question opens up a flamewar... but PLEASE BEAR WITH ME... a new B5 S4 owner, coming from 1.8T camp...
Looking to find the smoothest chip, one that has the least reliability issues, with as flat of a power curve as possible and as close as stock!
And this is on an ALL STOCK 2001 S4, so no downpipe, exhaust, or anything else...
My options are (in Canada):
- APR
- MTM
- AMS/ABT (not sure who makes it really)
- GIAC
- Revo
- Maybe Wett (hard to find)
Appreciate any constructive feedback... looked around without finding a proper answer.
Cheers!

I've heard bad things about the revo remaps, not that it's harmful AFAIK but rather the method they use to produce more boost is pretty poor compared to other tuners and ultimately limiting.
I've heard good things about the GIAC's though. IIRC they have done alot of custom work mapping cars running GT28RS turbo's as opposed to the usual K04 upgrades / Stock K03's - although, anyone who knows the Bosch Motronic ECU well enough to run totally unique turbo's (unique to the VAG group as in normally only K03 / K04 on 2.7TT) must know what they are doing.
Ultimately, you pays your money you takes your choice.
BTW Where abouts in Canada are you? - I spent some time in B.C mainly Vancouver / Whistler.

Thanks man... what about MTM? Any experience with those?
I actually do live in Vancouver, BC... and Whistler is GREAT place to ski... go there a few times a year!

I had an APR chip on my S4 and it was very smooth. I also had a REVO remap and if I had to choose based on your needs, APR would win hands down.

I have no experience of MTM other than they do seem to do the lairier (read: bigger more expensive mods) I recall they did Roy Keanes (Ex Man Utd Footballer) RS6 - think it made 600hp
AFAIK - MTM have a good name, good product, and a big fat price to go with it!
I've got a friend in Whistler at the minute, he's from Alberta - but lives in UK. He's looking for an apartment in whistler, I think he's about to become my bestest buddy ever!
Funnily enough - he's got an Audi too, only a 1.8T Quattro though

I have an MTM chip on my RS4. Never tried anything else as it was on the car when I bought it. It's ok, although I feel it to be a little laggy. MTM actually solder a dughter board into the ECu with the remap on it, whereas some others actually re-program the existing ECU. I belive MTM prices over here in the UK have fallen slightly.
AFAIK a custom remap would give you what you want and if you then did further mods (e.g. gutted [pre-cats or modding the exhaust) then the custom remap can be re-customised to suit the new setup.
