Exhaust gas temp sensor

My newly aquired Vag-Com and shiny new laptop are telling me that the offending item above on bank one is shorting to live.
Is this serious and would it make the car go into limp mode?
If it is in limp mode all I can say is "God help me" as she scares me now!
Is this an urgent need to fix or f**k it just clear the code and hope for the best.
Cheers

If you clear it and it stays away all good. If it comes back I would get it fixed ASAP

I'd be interested to know if it puts it into limp mode when it has this error flagged. I might need to replace mine. It's flagging 17862 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235) - I've cleared it & will recheck later but anyone know off hand if that's the 'hard' one or the 'easy' one?

AFAIK it doesnt put the car into limp mode as I need to get mine done as it's been dead for a few weeks now, if you get one from a stealer it's about £140 + the dreaded vat and VAG parts are £100 + vat & delivery, the part number is 078919529F
IIRC G235 is the drivers side sensor which I guess will be easy if you take the airbox out, although I'm sure somebody will correct me

you dnt need the airbox out to do any of them..yes the drivers 1 is easyest..it will deffo make the car run underpowered so a sort of limp mode..
@chip..if ya want a hand fitting it let me no..se,london/kent aint that far and i have the tools to do them..

when my egt sensors went the car went straight into limp mode untill they were changed. if yours is in limp mode it will only give .4 bar boost instead of .8 and it makes one hell of a diference.
