Respray S4 inlet "Y" Pipe??

Post by tdiquattro » Mon Mar 26, 2007 7:52 am

My S4 intake Y pipe (the silver plastic one after the acordian hose) is looking tatty, scratches from the big hose clip etc. They are silver but black plastic underneath.

Just a thought, but I am probably going to re-spray it, what do you guys think about a different clolour? I already have the carbon RS4 engine covers 8) , and APR Bi-pipe (Gloss Black) so it will look good when done. What do you think would look good but not tacky!

Cheers

Nigel.

I saw one once that had been sprayed with a copper effect paint (as in the metal, not the bloke with a pointy hat). Looked the muts nuts.

Damn it!!!!!! i thought i'd be different as not seen it done on other cars. Dropped the Y pipe off this morning along with wheels to be done in dark charcoal pearl. Header tank colour coded black with the car and experimenting with candy apple red on the 3 centre engine covers. Will post some pics when i get it all back on friday

Thanks Chaps,

Yep all good, I will have a look on some of the tuning sites, audiworld etc, I like the bright orange/red of the new RS4 engine bits, but more for the cam covers, as the car is Avus silver there is enough of that about in and around the engine bay so something different is definitely on the cards. I have change the acordian hose clip for a jubilee one instead of that fingerchopingoffsnappyclip so no more scratches from that.

I have a set of stainless clips to fit to mine, about as far as I intend to go as far as bling goes....

I would have to see a photo shop example however a realy high gloss noggy blue might look good?

(Although it might have an adverse effect on the airflow as it is a slow colour  )

Finally got round to spraying it,
went for the new RS4 colour, just a similar "Anthracite", it is actually much closer in real life and looks very nice indeed, the light makes one pic look grey and the other orange here....., I also cleaned all the moulding lines off the edges on the Y pipe which makes it look much better.
I'm tempted by the red cam covers now as well. :)

Here is the RS4 version..
