Turbo question.

Post by BHP_Hunter » Mon Mar 12, 2007 8:14 pm

hi again,
can someone tell me why the K04 is almost the default choice for the V6 lump upgrade?
are they the best bang for buck turbo?
is there something about their specific design that makes fitting easier than other turbines?
are they more reliable than other similarly priced turbines?
are there better alternatives to them?

that's enough questions for now, thanks for reading.

ps. it seems a very friendly and helpful community in here.

hahaha - nice ploy putting that at the end of such a list of questions! very clever ...

I think people go for K04's because they bolt straight on...

As for the rest of your Q's there are plenty of guys on here who know an awful lot about this kind of thing (I'm not one of them though!) - i'm sure someone will be along shortly to furnish you with the answers you seek ...

there the default choice cos they bolt straight on..no manifold change needed..
there prob the cheapest bang for buck turbo that bolt straight on..apart from going ko3 hybrid..
there specific design is made purely for the reason of a straight swop..
yes there as reliable as a turbo can be..if a turbo,s gonna pop its gonna pop..
yes there are better turbo,s out there but then you have to pay good money..
hope that helps..

with the k04's and a free flowing exhaust mani through turbo and out turbo back exhaust is probably the best bang for buck. if you start going for hybrid k04's you will need heads, inlet mani and it gets generally rather expensive to see those bhp.
