Just had the MRC treatment !!!

Post by S4Jem » Sun Feb 18, 2007 7:47 pm

All i can say WOW !!!!! :D :D :D

The car is totally different now, the way the turbos kick in is astonishing. I truly never expected by remapping and having the pre-cats gutted that the car would be transformed in this way.

In all gears the car just keeps pulling to the red line and boy how it pulls. Never thought that 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gear could be so exciting.

Many thanks to Doug for a job well done. Only problem is now, the brakes are just not up to the job, so another spend is on the way.....I am now officially addicted !

Good to see and hear and i mean hear!! the yellow rocket and the forum members who popped in.

Cheers

Yep it really is worth the dosh is'nt it.
I must say though that i can live with the brakes now that i have changed to drilled/grooved discs on the front, dont get as much fade as before, but if i was'nt saving for a wedding i would go for the big brake upgrade but it all comes down to cash in the end!!

Glad your pleased with the MRC treatment.

Hi phil,

What disc do you have and how good are these over stock discs?.....mine need changing as they fade very badly and vibrate, so am interested in a grooved/drill option for now.

I would also recommend gutting te pre-cats if yours are stock Hobson4, not as loud as first thought, just hear the turbo's spinning a lot more now....defo worth the money !!

Cheers

And the brake upgrade is a must once you're into the +300bhp area IMO...

From memory (which is fading no pun intended) they are OMP. I sourced them on e-bay last April/May time @ £180 ish.
I didnt have any vibration issues with the old ones (which i still have in the shed) just that they faded after a couple of hard stops!
Whilst these are significantly better ( i can now do 4/5 hard stops before fading) i feel that for road use and the cash that i had to spend they were worth the money.
I do have a late facelift model which does have the improved calipers so maybe this has also helped my cause.

Getting a ~20% increase from a remap alone is one of the best things you will ever spend your money on. Enjoy it!

Did you get the Generic remap or a custom one?

I'd heard Minhea was away, unless of course Doug is a whizz with the old ECU jiggery pokery too!

How long does it take drive in out for the remap and gutted precats? Can you drive down from Yorkshire have it done and make it back at a reasonable time?

Sorry for the q's, but my new S4 isn't mapped yet and my old one was mapped before I got it.

just out of interest what exhaust do you have on there. (i'm guessing that you didnt do the pre-cats without changing the zorts first.)

i keep saying how i need to get it done. at the end of the day there is no excuse when everyone rants and raves how good it is!!! :-D
