Quattro vibration

Searching through some previous posts I found some people mentioning a vibration coming through the transmission when turning a corner. It feels similar to the tyres scrabbling for grip with a light understeer.
The general consensous was that this was normal and that a 4 wheel alignment would sort it.
I have this and having been in another b5 S4 that didn't have it know it is cureable. I can't find any posts that mention whether the 4 wheel alignment cured the problem.

Mine give that sort of feeling when turning on tight lock. I put it down to quattro and the fact I have 33mm offset wheels whcih push the wheels out of the arches further than standard. Seems fine at speed

I've heard this is normal!

Mine does it, but only when the cars hot. Like a dog dragging its back legs!

Wonder if its related to the diff oil.... maybe an oil change is in order!

There are two different effects.

Front tires slipping, on full lock at low speed, especially on a wet road is alignment.

Grinding/growling/groaning from the rear when pulling out of a junction with a bit of welly, is normal torson feature.

How about a rumble, coming it seem from the front, on quick bends, equal both left and right sides, like going over painted strips on the road, any suggestions?

A series of hedgehogs. Check your tyres.

Tyres checked, changed, rechecked, no improvement.
alignment checked & rechecked, fine.
Balance also repeatedly checked, in different garages.

How does Driveshaft imbalance or diff damage present?

I think all quatros do it. Mine was made worse by having a set of locking wheel bolts which were too long and rubbing one of the main arms when on full lock. All sorted now tho but still get the very mild vibration.

Come to think of it, mine doesn't do it anymore (as far as I have noticed).
4-wheel alignment did not cure it, so in my case it must have been one or all of:
Tyres (running PS2s now)
Wheels (18" RS reps)
Suspension (H&R coilovers)

Mine hardly does it anymore to be honest... it used to quite a bit. Guess wheel, suspension and tyre setup can reduce it - I am talking about the rear grumbling noise at slow speed.

Your problem seems to be something else that sounds a little more serious... really should get it checked over by someone else, or go for a drive with someone here that has an S4 to compare.
