when my egt sensors broke it went into limp mode and about 195 hp .6 bar boost. mrc changed them and got full power back.

Ok so there is no power loss at the moment. But as they both came up on vag com does this mean that they are going to fail? what did mrc charge you?

I've just paid Audi £160 for nearside EGT and that was with 15% off!
Labour isn't too bad if car is on a ramp, I can't see it being more than an hour but I am not a mechanician.
Check loom first for damage, it's weird silvery colour and mine was meandering through all the various pipes in bay (but alas was OK).
Can't wait to do it as its the only DTC logged!

When i purchased my car i thought it was standard, when it went for a service they logged both EGT's as knackered So i told them to change them and my god the performance difference was astounding. We examined the ECU and it was chipped.Itsubsequently transpired that the dealer i bought the car from had been running around in it for a couple of months with a knackered MAF and using 95 RON fuel, which may well have lead to lean running and an early demise of the EGT's
I now have VAG-Com so if you ever come up the A3/M3 to surrey give me a shout and I'll happily do some logging for you.

A standard S4 should only really be run on 98, a remapped one should
definitely only be on Super(97) or above.
vagparts now have EGT sensors in their online shop. 100 quid each exc. VAT if
I remember rightly.

You Bad Man, Like feeding a cat fully skimmed rather than full fat!
If you're at the Windsor meet next week I should have my VAG-COM in the car. If I forget, peterb will have his no doubt.

if your using tesco fuel just roll it about 2 inches forward and stick in the 99 ron..every little helps..
