badge or no badge???

Post by buzzard » Thu Jul 27, 2006 5:01 pm

i've had an urge for a while to see why my S4 badge on the boot was in the wrong place.
so i peeled it off and sure enough --- a nice scratch behind :bash:
so that (and tartan robs mint TDI badge trick) led me to debadge altogether.
i felt a bit bare at first but then felt liberated
hot hatches are now surprised to be left in the dust
so time for my first pole

the B5 is stealth enough not to warrant a debadge, most people think it's only an A4 anyway

The badge is discrete enough, especially the early ones, that only the educated car driver would know what it was anyway.

Never had a badge on mine, I reckon they should look stealth, just my 2p.

I'm debadged, and much happier for it. I also have a completely anonymous colour for the same reason. I have to park pretty much every day in a really rough area and it just makes sense for me to have debadged. I also have a disklok to cover the badges on steering wheel and in the speedo for the same reason. I figure that, unless there is some really knowledgeable scumbag who knows what B5 S4 alloys look like, it will just look like any other 7 year old A4. I think that, particularly with the big advert runs for the B7 RS4, people's knowledge of the existence of S and RS cars is improving. In an ideal world this wouldn't be necessary, as I love the badge, i am proud of the car and I really think the car looks better with the badges on.

But, now i can sleep at night.

And there is little better than destroying some ricer and see them mouthing to their mate in the passenger seat as you fly by "Wot the phuq is that mate?!"

But, as i say, i wish i didn't feel the need to debadge..... :(

I reckon they are stealth even with the badge. As has been said only the educated know the S4. I was in ATS and the lad opened up the bonnet - to quote his words 'Fupp I thought these were 1.8 turbos'

I couldn't resist letting the old boy go out with me for a few miles - he knows the score now.

Badge all the way - helps with their education. Next time they see you they'll want to know what it was that passed them!

Debadged on the front and will be on the back when it goes in for some paint work. I have a nice scratch next to the badge at the moment where some twot has tried to remove the badge for me!

Happy to have the Audi rings front and back

I love the S4 , But to drive and park were you like is great too.... Every one spots M3 badge and i think it's the same with S4 just a small red bit on the back ! say's it's fast but debage in a car park the car looks plain to most

Interesting thread, some good reasons already submitted both ways. I also love my S4. Mine is an early one so the badges are very discrete. Those in the know, smile. Those who don't, end up frowning or smiling depending on whether or not they paid big bucks to get destroyed by an A4.

Leave the badge, most people think that the S4 has the same engine as the S3 anyway...... LOL
