Hi to all,not been on the site too often lately as been swattin up for exams! But my baby is suffering in this heat (i hope its the heat?) I was driving along when the display started bleeping at me telling me the abs was not functioning correctly and then went off again after a couple of miles! then a few miles later it came up again! it seems an intermittent fault or is this normal? The brakes feel fine and the fluid is at the normal level. has anyone come across this before? could it possibly be the heat?
any info would be great! cheers Lee :(

I can think of 4 suggestion's

1) check it out with VAGCOM,
2) it could well be time to change the brake fluid
3) broken ABS rings
4) dirty sensor's

just my thought's for what their worth

or the abs ecu, same as mine went... for about 4 months now its permanently on, abs doesnt work at all.
try Vag Com, if you cant connect to the abs module its defo the ecu. theyre about 250 exchange ive yet to get one! :)

Very common problem, will affect everyone eventually!
You can fix it yourself (bit tricky and not guaranteed)
Read all about it here..... http://passat-b5.ru/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=57...

Usual fix is to rplace the ABS module (NOT THE COMPLETE ABS UNIT) which is easy DIY, with a reconditioned unit from someone like BBA-Reman

I would also place my bets on the ECU. And like UKS4APR1 said, don't buy a new ECU yet! This can be fixed. It is most likely your problem, if one of your sensors is not dead.
