I'm looking to get my car remapped. I've heard loads about MRC and to be honest they would be my ideal choice.....................but, they are too far away. (this is due to my work commitments for the next month anyway!)

I live in between York & Hull and was wondering if there is anyone up this area that do a good job just like MRC?

There is a place in Northallerton that can chip it for £511, but I'd prefer a custom remap.

Any ideas?

Cheers Dan.

Maybe if we could start a post with locations & address of all good remap / chip centres in the uk, would help newbies like me??

Personally I would wait until you have a spare day and make the trip. It will be well worth it trust me.

Right, just spoke to MRC....well happy with their customer services over the phone.
I need to change an EGT sensor as that is only fault VAg-com is picking up on.

:!: :!: Fault...
17862 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235): Short to Ground
P1454 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Anyone know which side or where the EGT sensor 1 is located :?: :?:

Also, I'd like to do a pressure test on boost system befroe I go down as making a couple trips would do my head. Ideally I'd like the car ready for them to do their work in one session.

Where can i get boost pressure leaks checked and at what sort of costs?

Did you get your S4 mapped? If so, what was costs and how do you feel the car has improved??

dan its well worth getting your intake tested, i've been down 3 times now after a huge rebuild the fault has been detected as a dodgy actuator so will be going back soon as.

I've watched em pressure test my car a few times and passed it on to my garage down in ipswich.

you need to remove the y pipe and block off one side of the intake whilst putting pressure through the other side using a compressor. u'll need to make up a tyre valve with a bung to fit the side your gonna to apply pressure through and u can use a spray can t block the other. expect some leakage through the crank breather.

there must be a specialist your way to at least give the car a health check. getting to the leaks if on the turbos is a killer

my car wasnt running properly when i went down, but after a health check and pressure test, some new spark plugs and a new MAF, the car now runs brilliantly. had a custom map done as well, and in my opinion, its well worth the money , remap cost £500 plus any other parts that are found to be faulty etc.

the big difference is that MRC really know their stuff, they have done plenty of S4's so they have the experience, whereas plenty of audi garages or local specialists dont have the experience.

it was a fair drive for me to get there, but worth it. i know the car is now running well with no problems
