Traction control/Tyres

Hi Fellas,

Does anyone know if tyres have an affect on when the traction control kicks in?....

I am currently running Pirrelli death traps (car decided to drive sideways in the wet one day when going round a roundabout! ) and the traction control kicks in far too often, whereas my previous pre-facelift S4 (the one without the switch) rarely introduced itself. So was interested to know, when I have new boots fitted to the car, will this reduce the number of times the TC kicks in?

BTW...looking at PS2 = £110 fitted or GDS3 = £118 fitted.

Still undecided between the two, so any comparisons will be appreciated.

Cheers
Jem

S4Jem,

There's loads of threads on this subject - suggest you do a search first.

The prices you have are pretty keen I'd say.

I have a standard car so its pretty hard to get the TC to come on. In a straight line, wet or dry the TC never comes on.

I find it does intervene some mornings when the road is slimy and I need to pull out of this junction on the way to work into traffic travelling at 60mph.... normally if the road looks damp I will switch it off and powerslide my way into the road..... ;-)

I have Dunlop SP's......

Hunting around you can do much better on those tyre prices..
I had a set of 4 x 17" GSD3 fitted last week at Bracknell for 352 pounds.
impressed with the service and the tyres so far.....Hardly ever see traction control to be honest!

I have notice going from Goodyear GSD3 to hankook the traction control seems more ative than before and am getting GSD3 back on next week so there will be less flashing lights around roudabouts and junctions will keep you updated on the results

I'm leaning towards the PS2's, as other posts on this forum suggest they last longer than the GSD3. So similiar performance, but longevity with the PS2....please correct me if this is not the case  .

Planning a trip to the Nurb, so need a tyre which will last :D

Going with a mate who is looking to buy a M3, so he can boast he has a faster car, etc (he had a 325I before and was a tad miffed when the S4 went passed him easily on the M20), but he dosn't realise i'll being taking a trip to the MRC boys before we go to the nurb  ....it would be nice to arrange it for the same day as the forum (BTW when is it?), just to see his face when we turn up and its bumper to bumper tuned Audis

hehe
