just ordered a pair of 710N's and would like to replace the few inches of pipe work as the originals are a bit brittle and breaking up.
Do i need 5mm and 8 mm hose? and do i need to get silicon or rubber hose, and where can i get it from.
do i connect with tie wraps, or do i get new clips from the stealers? i should be able to get the clamping tool of a mate if needed still looks tricky, any advice much appreciated

The vacuum side is 5mm bore, and 5mm hose will be a tight fit (which it needs to be), so silicone is best. I prefer hose with a cotton overbraid which is better for heat shielding. Demon Tweeks does suitable hose.
I tried to get small enough clamps and eventually gave up. Good luck if you can find some. For reference 8mm is too big unless you have fat hose. So I have ended up using tie wraps. Remember that they are vacuum hoses, so actually the clamping is not as critical as pressured hoses. Of course you need to avoid leaks, which is why I recommend 5mm hose for a snug fit.

Thanks for all the good advise from you all came in handy,
replaced the DV's and piperwork today just as a matter of caution due to the originals ones having a reputation of being a bit on the week side.
Sure enough one was split, only had the car two weeks, so no idea how long it been split for.
so if you have recently bought an S4 CHECK YOU VALES for the sake of forty quid,
even if you think your cars performing ok, mines a different car now, and i though that the originals would have been ok after a sucky, sucky, test, and the way it was performing, just shows you.
Thanks
