Just checked my Fault codes with vag-com and the following DTC came up:

16497 : air intake temp sensor G42 signal too high.

any thoughts?

Were do I find the sensor under the bonnet?

its under the intake manifold. try to clean the connector first witch is under the driver side DV on the UK cars I believe.

Signal too high would look to me like the temp is too high, if the connection was lost I would expect open or short to ground....but not such on exact wiring. Clean sensor and connection as advised and take it from there. If the signal is not intermittent then perhaps cheap enough to change...

this is the exact code description, not signal too high.
DTC: 16497
P-Code: P0113
Description: Intake Air Temp.Circ High Input

I had a quick look under the front cover, couldn't see obvious connectors visible under DV.s, but i wasn't looking for long , will have a more detailed look tonight.
Plugged vag-com back in started the car , and the air intake temp reading was between 26-30deg c , engine was cool, outside temp was around 20 deg c ?? is this right?

Its apparently under the throttle valve housing and you have to remove it to get to it! not a quick job.

If they are cheap you may as well replace it.
