Fast Road/Trackday Brake Pads

What are the options other than EBC Greenstuff keeping brakes standard other than changing the pads to cope with the high temperatures generated by track use - standard audi pads are just not up to the job with their high wear rate and inability to cope with the heat build up.

I know this has been discussed before but my searches did not really give me an answer - hense the post here

I have used Gren Stuff before, initially they are poo then for 3 or 4k miles they are great then they went worse than std. That was on a Fiat Uno Turbo 1.3 running 160bhp. My dad found exactly the same on His Saab Aero running 230bhp.

Not worth it IMO.

If you get pads that can be used at higher temperatures, then your brake fluid will boil easier.
If you change your brake fluid then the next weak link are the disks which warp under excessive use.

Been there, done that, and got the receipts to prove it (3 sets in a year  )

Either upgrade properly (AP/Movit/Porsche) or accept the standard brakes for what they are.

To be honest, I have changed my oil for DoT 5.1 racing and gone for new discs and pads from Audi. The brakes are quite dull when cold or at low speed but at normal speeds 30mph+, I have had no problems at all, but I supose it depends on your tyres/suspension combination as well..?

PS BiTurbo - whereabouts are you in relation to magic roundabout?

Audi only sell one type.

I have tried both green and red from EBC, and also even had a set of standard audi disks machined to add the grooves in.

I am very happy with my current setup for fast road use - pagid fast road pads + DBA drilled & slotted + castrol SRF equivalent fluid.

If you are planning to do a number of track days, you should consider spending money on some proper brakes for the car, as it is a heavy beasty to slow down from high speeds.

They are pagid fast road material - apparently a harder compound than the normal fast road stuff, but not quite as harsh as the pagid blue + no squeal + no noise + same price as OEM pads = sensible choice for road use.

Thanks Nige - checked out DBA website and I guess you have the 4000 rotors?
