Another problem!!

Well, just got the car back from Dialynx - the gearbox is fine, the short shift is amazing and the Revo makes a big difference.
But (and there seems to always be a "but") now the brakes are playing up. When coming to a standstill under braking there is a juddering and a twanging noise. And sometimes the brake pedal moves away from my foot. Could this be either the ABS having been mucked up by the Revo or is it a warped disc as it seems to happen on a specific part of the disc (or that could be my imagination). The twang noise is a bit disconcerting and you can feel a judder under your foot and my wife noticed it in the back seat......any ideas???

Feels like its the drivers side.

Sounds like a warped disc, however re: the twanging sounds more like a loose caliper or disc, would whip each wheel off and make sure the pads and calipers are all seated correctly. Lastly check the wheels and make sure there isn't a dirty great nail stuck in the tire.

Apparently Dialynx had to remove the front wheels for access when fitting the new gearbox and they said that the wheels were almost impossible to get off. They are RS4 replicas (decent ones from and fitted by Fontain) and that the funny noise and brake problem could be caused by the wheel not locating properly on the hub.......sound reasonable? Will loosen and re-tighten all nuts (wont try to remove the wheel in case I cant get it back on!!) this evening and see whether that makes any difference. Seems a bit strange as it only happens under light braking when coming to a stop - like a double judder and the brake pedal moves away from my foot and there is a bizzare metallic twang.....all a bit strange

Sounds exactly the same as what happened after mine had been to Scotts for an upgrade. With mine the problem was sorted by cleaning the ABS Sensors.

How do you get to those? Are they easily accessible if you remove the wheels? What did you clean them with? It does feel sometimes like the ABS is engaging - the sort of pulsing sensation.

Sorry Mate - Not too sure as they were cleaned by the mechanic when it was in for a service - I'm sure there are plenty of people on this site who would know.
