Fitting a Road Angel into an S4

Has anyone hard-wired a Road Angel into their S4 rather than having to run ugly cables into the cigarette lighter?

If so, any idea how difficult/easy it is to do? The car is going to Dialynx next week - reckon they would be able to do it?

Yes, easy job. Wire it into the fuze box located in the drivers side dash

The Road Angel comes with two cigarette lighter adapters - do I need to adapt these or buy a different connector which will plug into the fuse box - are you talking about the panel at the side accessible when you open the drivers door?

Yes that is the panel.

Use the lead that is straight not curly. Cut off the cigarette lighter adaptor, then connected the two wires to a switched 12V and a ground (there is a well positioned screw near the fuse box for this.

Make sure you connect in the wright way round of course. I cannot remember which colour wire is +ve, but use a multimeter to check for continuity to the central connection on the connector that plugs to the road angel. This will be +ve

Did you have any problems with your Road Angel? Mine just says "Searching for Satellites" all the time and when it does occasionally find them, it drops the signal as soon as the car is moving pretty much. Does the S4 have a UV windscreen as I understand that this can cause a problem as the GPS signal cant get through and you need an additional antenna. Anyone had this experience?

Why is nothing ever easy!!!? :x

my road angel 2 is working just fine. it is in the center of the dash right up to the windscreen and it is hard wired to the fuse box. i have had it for three months and it has worked fine all the time.

I am actually not certain the windscreen is standard. It has a slight tint and a pattern of black dots top and bottom.
