Cruise Control Retrofit

Post by DavidT » Fri Apr 22, 2005 11:34 am

I know this is an old topic, and before anyone asks, yes I have searched the site before posting this ;-)

Anyways, fresh from installing an AWE centre vent boost gauge, I am putting cruise on next.

I have searched the web but cannot find exactly what I am after.

So far, I understand that for drive-by-wire cars, you simply install the left stalk (£60 + VAT and carriage from our good friends at vag-parts), plug it in under the dash somewhere, then enable cruise on the ECU with VAG-COM, for which I have the instructions.

Can anyone add to this with experience or even instructions for the physical install please ?

I believe it is a much bigger job on non drive-by-wire cars.

Will report back when I have more useful info.

LOL @ Morpheous

I think these are the activation instructions for cruise with VAG-COM

Activating Cruise Control on a new ECU (DBW):
Factory fresh ECU's often come with cruise control de-activated.

[Select]
[01 - Engine]
[Login - 11]
Enter 11463 to activate cruise control
[Do It!]

It's the wiring bit that worries me :-(

Which models were actually DBW - post 99.5 or earlier than that?

Thanks

Mik
