hi all
does any one know whether some of the commercially available decoking
agents do actually do anything or whether they're pure marketing ?
For example : Red Line SI-1
http://www.redlineoil.co.uk/products/fu ... eaners.htm
and : Ecotek's Power Boost
http://www.ecotekplc.com/power_boost.htm
Thanks

Why do you feel the need to decoke you car , i've just stripped my s4 lump @81k & it was like new , no carbon deposits at all . try some injector cleaner & give it a good thrash

.
That should do the job

lol

i had a golf mk4 v6 before my b5 s4, and one day while getting some warranty work done at the dealership, one of more senior engineers while on a test run with me to try and isolate some noises said "whatever you do don't use low octane unleaded in it as we've had a few in recently needing decoking", which of course meant diassembly and the cost associated with it. rather begrudgingly at the price, i then used the super or premium unleaded brands instead.
So... I guess having gained a paranoia

I spotted power boost in
http://potn.com 's catalogue and wondered whether it actually did the job.
I've just read through the reviews they have on their site, and they seem pretty good, but sounds as though it may have been a specific problem with the golf ?
My S4 is at about 84k at the mo.

Thanks.
