Control arm recall?
Control arm recall?
What's the situation in the UK with regards to a recall on lower control arms? There definitely seems to be some sort of recall in the US according to the chaps at AudiWorld.
RE: Control arm recall?
I had my recall via a letter from Audi UK.
A quick check at the local dealer, nice cup of coffee and all was OK.
Apparently it appears that high mileage A4's (i.e. not specifically S4's) have revealed worn bearing/bushes.

The recal is only for a free check, though if you have FSH they normally replace then FOC if required.

RE: Control arm recall?
I had one arm replaced after the recall and I'm waiting on a refund for the other that I paid them to replace a year ago. However, the refund may not be for the full cost of the part and labour to fit. I can't explain why it won't be a full refund as i think i was still in shock at getting any money back at all.
On a different note - while the car was in having the arm replaced they tried it on with the CV boots needing replaced. This was a complete surprise to me as I'd had all the wheels off the car the previous week and had the car serviced at an independant Audi/VW specialist and had not noted any problems. I challenged it and received a mumbling comment about them being perished. They had tried that one the previous year as well and along with several other issues it prompted me to go find a good independant audi specialist instead. I had vowed never to take the car back there but as it was free......
