I have finally made my decision to go for an Audi S4, (my wife has bent my ear enough about the current car so I have to get something more sensible). I have some questions if you would be so kind. The number 1 question is where will I find competitive insurance? Next I would like to know anything that, as a newbie to these cars, should know when look at a prospective motor. Any colours or specs or upgrades that should be avoided. What sort of mileage are these cars capable of (as I may go for a high miler). My budget is £12k is that reasonable? I think that's it. All help and advice greatly appreciated.
I take it I have made the right choice yes? I was considering a Bora 2.8V6 and a newer Audi A4 1.8T quattro

If you look around you may get a S4 for 12k with mileage of 60k and upwards.
Be careful though as i was nearly stitched up when i purchased mine. I managed to head up North for mine in the end and i got a really good deal. I've been use to driving mercedes and BMW but now I know that AUDI are the best to drive. Personally look for warranty.

Take your time,I have been looking for an S4 for months and might just have found what I'm looking for, but I've left an offer with the vendor and will wait and see if he decides to get back.

For 12K you'll get a good one, but you'll need to be patient. Read the guides to Audi S4's there are lots of them out there.

Look for a full dealer service history, a must if your going to want Audi warranty and make a claim.

If you are going to modify the car probably not so important. Pay for a full HPI check, note the dealer that serviced the car and phone them, they tend to be helpfull in the main.

Talk to the owner(s) if you can. Lastly if you don't know about cars get it checked by AA/RAC inspection before handing over any money. If it's a dealer car they'll fix any problems highlighted and it'll probably pay for it's self.

Took six months to find mine, well worth the wait. Twelve months later still a joy to drive.

S4 looks good in everything apart from that Metallic Snot Green...

thanks for all the help, but can someone explain what kind of warranty is still live on a 5-6 year old Audi?
