What Power to expect
What Power to expect
It seems to me that if the same things are changed (or modified) on a S4 you should, regardless of tuning company (within a few BHP either way) get the same results. For the sake of arguement lets say
Stage 1: Re-map/Chip Expected BHP range 310-315
Stage 2: Re-map/Chip + Complete Exhaust Expected BHP range 330-340
Stage 3: Stage 2 + K04s Expected BHP range ???
Stage 4: Stage 3 + Injectors & Fuel Pump Expected BHP range 380
Stage 5: Stage 4 + MAF, Intercoolers, Air box etc Expected BHP range 420 - 435
Anyone care to comment on these figures.....?

RE: What Power to expect
a lot depends on how aggressive your tuning is. Some stage 3 kits (K04's, upgraded fueling, ect) yeild around 420, while others, when teaked can go higher, like upto 500bhp.
In my opinion, you should do IC's when you do K04's or even earlier. Also, injectors and MAF would most likely be done at the same time.

RE: What Power to expect
Does anyone know of a S4 running 500BHP on K04s ? The only ones I've seen on the web are running 100+ Octane race fuel

RE: What Power to expect
i know of one that is at like 417whp on pump i think.
RE: What Power to expect
417whp on what dyno and at what RPM???? very curious. IMHO stock S4 heads can't flow enough air at reasonable boost levels for 420+HP....

RE: What Power to expect
So Mihnea are my figures correct ?
RE: What Power to expect
Yes Jeff, they do sound about right for "stage 5"...
However, a remap+complete exhaust with race cats and improved fuel pump will give about 350-360HP already (your stage 2)

RE: What Power to expect
Stage 2 was with K03s.....
What do you think Stage 3 would be ?

RE: What Power to expect
Mihnea, what fuel pump would you recommend - the RS4 pump or 5bar FPR?? And are there any benefits of fitting one without a specific remap?
Nige.

FYI Mihnea, this was done on 91 R+M/2 octane fuel. This would be about 95 Octane in Europe.
Results taken from a Dynojet dyno.
I know that you feel the US horsepower numbers are inflated, but they are taken on proven dynos and the quarter mile times of our fastest cars supports claims of well over 450 hp.

Here is a Standard off the shelf AWE K04 kit overlayed with the 416 whp run.
There are logs for the 416 hp run further down the page.

Re: RE: What Power to expect
Chris, we're not talking straight RS4 turbos anymore here.
Second thing, is that I don't believe Dynojet or Mustang dynos for anything in the world. I've had bone stock 100 S4's (C4) on either last summer and they all put out solid 210 to 230 ATW, for 227 SAE (230DIN) rated at the crank??? WTF???
Now I dunno for 416 ATW, but it's hard to believe.... Stick that car onto a MAHA/Bosch dyno and I might believe the figures then. A dyno that only measures at the wheels isn't the right dyno IMHO, no matter what dyno manufacturers from down under say.
Here's a dyno graph I'm finding hard to believe too, yet the car is a missile. I have tuned this car remotely for a tuner friend from germany (so he'll probably get the honors for this). This is a non-final version BTW, there might be room for another 30-40 HP between 6500 and 7000 RPM.... Something funny is also happening with the MAF at 292 g/s, we might be maxing out the stock S3 MAF or I dunno but the MAF value looks weird to me because it doesn't increase past 5400 RPM...
