Whilst my brakes are working fine, there's a fair bit of travel in the pedal to make them work, and it has a 'spongy' feeling. Also when I press the pedal when stationary, I'm sure I can hear a soft 'gassy' noise.

I assume that the solution to my problem is to have the whole system bled and filled up with new brake fluid? If so, should I let the dealer put in the Audi recommended fluid or something else?

Agree with Biturbo, Have SRF in mine (and the old S4).
Its the best you can get, however you do need to fully flush it at least once a year as it is a race
fluid so is more likley to absorb moisture.

Are you sure thats not suppose to be every 6 months for srf Prawn?

Just my views, but unless your seroiusly tracking the car or using the roads as your personal race way, I would stick with the stand oem brake fluid and just have it changed every year rather than every two years. The cost of srf far outways the extra benefit for road use imho.

I actually do mine every 3 months.
You would be ok with 12 months but better to be safe than sorry.
If you are not tracking the car then I would use Motul RBF fluid or similar.

Thanks guys. I take it that indeed I need new brake fluid. I don't think I need SRF but maybe I'll find out what AmD used and what the dealer intends to use.

I think you need to cycle the ABS pump to do the fluid change properly, which dealers do with their vag tools. Can you do it with VAG-COM ?

My car uses the standard fluid and was fine till Le-Mans in March when the track was quiet late in the day Now they are the same as yours Dippy. I'll just bleed them and see if that fixes it before investing in better fluid and Goodridge lines.
