Why am i Jinxed with AmD ?

Ok, i'll stick to the S4, but previously had a few runs of bad luck with my golf vr6 with AmD (which i have to say they sorted out with no problems)
But.....
I booked my car in for last friday for a short shift kit. Booked the day off as holiday from work (as it was my birthday too).
get up there for about 9:30. Walked down to bicester village. spent even more money. walked back up at about 12. Waited for about 30 mins. See my car get driven round the front. I though.......cool......went to pay. And this is the problem :
They spent all morning taking my gearshift out, put the new one in and found the gate was too short (?) (kind of went over my head so i might have their explanation wrong there !)
And they've had to put my old one back in. They said they'll phone me when they get a new one in on monday/tuesday
Its now been a week........and no phone call.
Obviously they didnt take any money so that's not an issue, but where is the customer service in this ?
Admittedly I can always phone THEM but thats not the point
I just feel that if your not spending £££'s with these people they dont want to know.
I like their new waiting room though
just had to get it off my chest, i'm not starting a witch hunt for them or anything, but its the small things that make a big difference

Its not just you mate!
I have had two aborted wheel alignments there recently. Not to mention having the wrong suspension fitted to my car, but I'm still a customer!
Ed who works there is a big asset for AMD IMO and is making a lot of good things happen on the customer service side of things.
Personally I think their waiting room sucks - I have spent a lot of time in there and it does my head in

Sort of. I'm a consultant for them and look after their marketing and some of their prodcut development etc. However I've been a member here since it started and like to help out members (here and on all the forums I frequent) to make sure if something slips between the cracks at AmD it gets sorted. Thankfully this is a rare occurence but always like to help out where I can.

Olly,
IMO AmD's customer service is a victim of the company's success. When I first started modding my S4 I could pick up the phone and talk directly to Scott. Last time I gave them my business I was lucky to get through to anyone on the phone! That was over 6 months ago so maybe it's better now.
I think you do need to have the right expectations. Yes I'd like AmD to be both as good as they are with the work AND have the best customer service around. But maybe that's not realistic. What I cannot stand is the 'empty' customer service that some Audi dealers offer: They make you feel like they're a great supplier but the bottom line is they are expensive and sometimes incompetent.
At least with AmD I know that they do a great job, but need help with their customer service. If I were you I would have 'phoned them on Tuesday afternoon...

Sod erm, if they cant be bothered to follow you up....go to QST!!!! I have always had good service from them, a great example, is when I had my MTM wheels refurbished and the guys that did it lost the plastic branding strips on each wheel, one phone call to QST and 2 weeks later a delivery of 4 brands new strips, and FOC!!!
Poor customer service is no excuse, it does happen but you seem to be experiencing more then your fare share from one company. And I'm sorry if I have offended Thorney, but if they are being compalcent mate ...

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Never had any "technical" issues with AMD, however plenty with QST.....and there is no excuse for complacency (not with the money they charge!!).
Agree with the customer service issues....responsiveness is poor at AMD these days, but always thought it was terrible at QST too - however AMD is a fair size business now, so they should know better. I rate AMD higher in every way ....

Take a look here....
http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ght=#52116
I was given a faulty car back after major work - they didnt even say it was down on power and I couldnt tell because the new K04's were on so it seemed quick enough. I was only when I noticed funny boost inconsistencies on my turbo gauge that I realised something was wrong and I took the car back. They gave it a run on the dyno and said "yup thats not right....torque is way down"....(dont tell me they didnt know already...they do this for a living)....I made them keep the car for weeks on end - they couldnt sort it. In the end they gave me the car back and admitted they'd run out of ideas - I couldnt believe my ears, just spent over 5k on the car and they couldnt make it work (had the car for 5 weeks all together) To be honest it seemed to me that they didnt bother much with the car when it was there, as I'd already paid the bill. The lady on the phone sounded annoyed everytime I called and they had a better excuse every time.....in the end they promised to get MTM over to have a look. They would call me they said.....nothing happened. I called them every week and each week another excuse....this went on for a few months.....in the end I gave up and took the car to AMD because I was going abroad on holiday and didnt want to take a faulty car and risk damage to my new K04's - they took a few hours and sorted it - I couldnt believe it, still cant....I am never ever going there again. I know lots of people have had good experiences with them, but I wish I could say the same.....

Tuner debate again. I must say I have had the same with AmD. Always seem to go there excited and come away dissapointed. Although when analyised I am always told that they cannot do something because there is a fault else where and they need a part etc etc. One wonders if this is a standard excuse, although just imagine the effects of modifying something when something else is incorrect !!! This was all on my corrados by the way.
Never used QST so cannot comment.
Tried Dialynx last time for my REVO. Took less time and was cheaper than quoted. Nice to sit in another changing room. The DV's are still not set up correctly - but in fairness to Keith he fitted adjustable units and they do need fiddling with and since then I have added a K&N so would need adjusting again. Also he explained how to adjust them and then I can set it up how I like. It's just that I don't like getting dirty. Others though have had bad experiences with Dialynx.
I wonder wether it would be good to try another tuner, a new one ?? In such a competitive matrket place surely a new company would need a competitive customer foucused tean to survive. Lets face it most of the tuning solutions are allready well tested... Movit, Milltek, REVO, MTM code, H&R surely not that hard to get right ?>
Discuss .....

my two cents:
Think that AMD's work is excellent as well as there fault finding too, but customer service is S**t, Edd is the only one that know's what is going on.

Are these 'customer service' questions or technical.
As I said earlier in the thread, I'm happy to try an help if anyone needs it?

I dont think anyone is doubting their technical knowledge or their skills, i think thats why i go back even though everytime i come back dissapointed.
Thorney.......thanks for your PM by the way, but i've taken the advice from here and went elsewhere (Stealth Racing, used them all the time for my VR6). I get to stand around and chat with the mechanics and see what they're doing, etc.
