Hi guys,
yesterday i noticed that my stock alarm is no longer activating, the lights by the door locks dont flash anymore and the central locking isnt working. Has anyone encountered this problem before or have an idea what the problem is. Is this a common problem? I take it that i could get it fixed under warranty?

Could be a simple fuse or your keyfob

Just ran it down to the stealers, they plugged it into vag com and first though that the central locking unit needed replacing as vagcom couldnt communicate with it. i asked them to just confirm that it wasnt the fuse. They found that it was just a fuse. Excellent, not even charged for their time, well done Walton audi, kinda! Funnily enuff it affected the alarm, it looks like if the fuse goes for the central locking that it also blows the alarm.

The alarm and central locking are one big unit, you'll find it in the boot behind the R/H side panel.

thanx for info. i was worried that it had packed in, i have heard that it can cost a fair bit to replace (thats why i made sure they checked the fuse).

Would you trust this dealer to do anything else to your car?

i did try to check the fuses myself but got confused as to which one to actually replace (i didnt want to start pulling fuses out willy nilly).
Is there a layout diagram for which fuse is for what. I looked on the removable panel for the fuse box, it had some sort of layout diagram on it but i couldnt work it out.
The last place i would have gone to get it fixed is a dealer, i just used them for their vagcom to help me determine what needed fixing.
Must admit that i dont mind going down there though (the Walton on thames one), not cos of the service but cos of the AM dealership next door...
DB9, mmmmmmm.....
